Qualities Biodegradable, Renewable
Supplier's Note
Our soap nuts are the dried fruit from the Ritha (sapindus mukorossi) tree. There are other types of trees that produce a poorer grade of soap nuts. The ones we import contain very high amounts of saponin. Saponin is the substance which gives the soap nuts their green cleaning power.
Did you know that once used, soap nuts break down completely (in the compost) leaving no toxic chemical residue behind? You can throw the used shells in the compost.
Directions
Soap nut powder does not dissolve in water like laundry or dishwasher detergents. It is ground soap nut shell so it is best used as a scouring soap. Scrub your tiles, tubs, sinks, toilet or any surface you need an abrasive agent to clean. Just apply with water to get the saponins to lather as you scrub and rinse when done.
We do not recommend using in any machine as the powder does not dissolve and may buildup in the machine, causing it to not function as well.
Because they are all natural and even organic, soap nut powder would also be great for scrubbing surfaces you use for cooking or serving such as BBQ grills and non-coated pots and pans.
Boil the powder to make a liquid soap and strain out the pulp if you want to use it in a machine. Remember that the liquid should be refrigerated and used up with 2 weeks or so.
