The inspiration for The Soap Dispensary came from our concerns about the prevalence of single-use plastics in our daily lives and the accumulating waste associated with them. We looked for an alternative way to shop but instead of being disappointed in not finding it in Vancouver, we were inspired to create it. Our cozy shop on Main Street in the Riley Park neighbourhood gives customers the opportunity to refill soaps and purchase lifestyle products without taking home more disposable plastic! Bring in your own clean containers or pay a small deposit fee for one of ours and reuse them over and over.

Our products are carefully selected for minimal impact on human and environmental health. All of our soaps are biodegradable. Many of our products are made with natural materials and wherever possible – are organic, vegan or fair-trade certified. For those who have children or sensitivities / allergies, we offer many products that are gentle, dye-free and scent-free.

We are more than just an eco business. We are also rooted in community values. At last count, over 50% of our suppliers are locally owned and 75% of our soaps are locally made. We partner with businesses that share our values and use our shop as a hub for education through workshops and talks.

If you would like to see a bit of our history, we’ve kept our promo video shot in our original location. Much gratitude to Grant Baldwin!
